  • All the universities in the world   52 weeks 4 hours ago

    Hi Thomas,

After extensive research and numerous efforts in trying to accomplish a goal in order to provide an apparent much needed service around the world to all students seeking for the most appropriate university or college that best suits their needs at an educational level, we have noticed that there was no existing reliable database that could be used to locate or discover new educational institutions.

Today, this is no longer an issue, we have dedicated ourselves in making a difference in this area and to provide opportunity to all those who wish and not only to those who can.

We are eager to present the world's first and fastest growing universities and colleges database website www.Ullbe.com worldwide.

www.Ullbe.com is a free tool that offers to the average student the chance to discover the millions of education opportunities offered by educational institutes ranging from well known universities, community colleges, to technical training centers and more worldwide .

www.Ullbe.com is a free site, listing over 13 000 points of study in over 187 countries across the world.

www.Ullbe.com is not a luxury tool of the future, but a necessary tool for today!

It is a necessity for the entire world to give a chance to the children of tomorrow an equal opportunity to achieve a valuable education!

We are so dedicated to help students around the world that we have not only created this website, and we have dedicated one page to each and every single school to advertise their studies or whatever they see fit. Direct links are available for display on your school website.

The education makes the world grow, universities make students grow to be tomorrow's leaders!

Please feel free to request more information if needed.

    Best regards,

    Gregory Arena

    Hi Thomas,

    - My name is Gregory ARENA, and I built up ULLBE.COM.

    - The idea of ULLBE.COM came to me two years ago during a trip. I met some guys all around the world and they could not find anything to do in their life! Then I just wanted to give a chance to anyone who wants to have one!

    - Then I started looking for how could I do something to help? I am not saying that I want to resolve all troubles, but if I can participate, then I will!

    - I know ULLBE.COM does not register all universities in the world, also the module to allow people to research needs to be affine.

    - I am working everyday to provide the best service for students and universities. Soon Universities will be able to describe theirself on ULLBE.COM.

    - Thank you Thomas for your comparison between those websites, I truly appreciate.

    - I will do my best to make ULLBE.COM the first database of Universities in the Web.

Religion and science... it's very intresting but there is a question: which religion? The "ethic" problems for a catholic are different from the "ethic" problem of an Indù, for example aboiut animal use in laboratory.
So religion and science must be seperated and indipendent each other. It's the only way tio make a progress, think to Galileo or Darwin.....

  • Myopic Greenpeace   3 years 28 weeks ago

I think the ambivalence that many people feel towards Greenpeace stems from the dogmatic view of things they seem to have.

  • Foreskin causes AIDS   3 years 28 weeks ago

If you ask me if this may help, I will answer yes. If you ask me if men should be circumsised because of this I must say no.

That was my point! Thanks for commenting Jorge.

And remember, if you want to comment on any news related to science ( especially the life sciences ) you are more than welcome to use your blog here. In fact that is the idea :)

    Kind Regards,

  • Foreskin causes AIDS   3 years 29 weeks ago

you are right about you say but I also must say that after circumsion the skin that before was under the foreskin gets thicker. This thin skin is the main entry door for HIV in man so getting some more layers just decreases the probability of HIV to infect men.

I do not think that this is the solution nor the problem of HIV. If you ask me if this may help, I will answer yes. If you ask me if men should be circumsised because of this I must say no. It's in educatiion and good sexual practices that we can fight HIV. There is a problem with an imperfect world and it may be a solution in sub-Sahara Africa because of lack of educational infrastructures, but it is a solution that I personally don't like.

Thank you for you topic Lennart, it is truly important.

  • Myopic Greenpeace   3 years 29 weeks ago

A similar situation happens in Portugal. We have the Green Party and they say that they exist because of the anti-nuclear war. I doon't think that this should be the main objective of a "Green Party". I would say that it would defend some more ecological/ambiental policies or whatsoever but not exist with the only objective of being anti-nuclear.

I have problemms supporting Greenpeace because although they provide a good defense for a lot of animal rights they have a blind approach. And I must totally disagree with that kind of irracionality. We are scientists and we all have, not only the right, but the responsibility to use our brain and not to mix in the same bag personal opinions and and reasoning.

    See you later,

    Jorge

The first Professorship for Neurobionik (german for neurobiomimetics) in germany is established at the University of Aachen (www.rwth-aachen.de). You can make a Diploma in that area if you want to.

Link to biomimetics at the University of Aachen

I only found the german one but you should write to:
    Prof. Werner Baumgartner (werner(at)bio2.rwth-aachen.de)
or to Dr. Harald Luksch (luksch(at)bio2.rwth-aachen.de)
so one of them can create the english site for you.

The Biokon (Bionik Kompetenz Netz) is also available in english. There are many examples for recent reserch in Bionik or as you said in english Biomimetics. It is all availlable in english but sometimes you got to press the Union Jack button to show a page in english.

  • Promising developments in solar energy by Risø   4 years 31 weeks ago

The research into alternative forms of solar panels is very intense. A similar EPSRC (the science and technological research council in the UK) funded project SUPERGEN (Unis of Bangor, Bath, Durham, Loughborough and Southampton) attempting to much cheaper and more flexible solar cells.

  • Robot guards to patrol shops and offices   4 years 32 weeks ago

Another recent development in this area is a 'female' android from Japan.

One of the designers says: "...people forget she is an android while interacting with her. Consciously, it is easy to see that she is an android, but unconsciously, we react to the android as if she were a woman."
